Making Floral Ice Cubes

Have you been searching around the web for interesting yet gorgeous ways to savour the beauty of flowers? Floral ice cubes are a perfect way to brighten up your next afternoon drink. It’s great for parties, and it’s affordable and simple to make. Master this simple technique and the next time you take a sip of water can be an experience to remember. Imagine drinking your favorite drink with red roses in ice cubes? Now, that’s fabulous!

Follow these steps to create the perfect flower ice cube.

You will need:

  • Distilled water

Why distilled water you may ask? If you want your ice cubes to look clear, make sure the water is not blurry. We recommend using distilled water that has been boiled and cooled because it contains fewer impurities that would make the water hazy.

  • Ice cube trays

Any ice cube tray of your choice will do. They can be plastic or rubber ones, and you’re certainly welcome to play around with shapes!

  • Edible flowers

Make sure to use flowers which are edible like an orchid or snapdragons. All flowers that weren’t grown to be eaten and treated with chemicals are not a good option.

Two-step process:

  1. Take an ice cube tray (plastic or rubber one), preferably larger one and fill the quarter of it with distilled water. If you choose smaller trays, your floral ice cubes will melt faster, and your beautiful homemade decoration will be gone in a blink of an eye.
  2. Place your flowers facing downwards, and freeze them. Here, you have the option to play around with the quantity of flowers. You can insert only one, or several of them if they are small and won’t take up the entire cube.
  3. Afterwards, add more water so your trays are half way full and freeze again. Repeat the last step one more time, meaning, fill all the way to the top and freeze again.

 

They are too gorgeous to eat, but…they are too tempting to pass on. It’s also a great way to brighten up your day and add a special touch to your next cocktail party. And all it really takes is water and cheap flowers.
